The Valedictory Function of ‘Sanrkashan Kshamta Mahotsav – Saksham 2018’ which continued for one month and spread awareness regarding need for judicious use of non-renewable resources was held at the Main Auditorium, Moti Ram Arya Sr. Sec Model School, Sector 27, Chandigarh. Mr. K.A.P. Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary, Food, Civil supplies & Consumer affairs, Punjab was the Chief Guest of the function. Mr. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Secretary, Finance, Institutional Finance & Banking, UT Chandigarh was the guest of honor. It was a matter of pride for the organizing committee to successfully bring to an end such a programme in service of environment.

Mr. Sandeep Jain, State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Punjab and Chief General Manager (in-charge) Indian Oil Corporation (Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh), welcomed all the guests and participants. In his welcome address, he stressed the need to conserve petroleum products in order to save not only money and fuel but above all, environment. He also expressed his concern for the economic burden on the country arising due to continuous import of petroleum products. He apprised the gathering that Oil Industry conducted more than 13000 activities during ‘SanrkashanKshamtaMahotsav – 2018’ (Saksham 2018) across various sectors in Punjab to make people aware on this national concern. He also appealed to schoolchildren to save energy for future.

The Chief Guest Shri K.A.P. Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary, Food, Civil supplies & Consumer affairs, Punjab raised serious concern about the vulnerability of our economy to high and volatile prices of petroleum products, therefore, he opined that sincere efforts need to be taken into consideration to have a long term impact through conservation activities. He praised the efforts made by Oil Industry to bring awareness among the masses on conservation and various ways to conserve fuel.

The Chief Guest and the Guest of honor also presented awards to winners of the ‘All India painting & Essay competitions’ held during the year by Petroleum Conservation Research Association(PCRA).

During the function a fuel conservation concert was also held and the theme for the same was “Indhan Sanrakshan kee Zimmedari, Jan Gan Kee Baghidari”
