Vibrant colours of Haryali Teej showered prosperity on DAV 10: Teej, is a festival celebrated by women, mainly in north India. The festival is dedicated to the goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva.
The festival is celebrated with singing, dancing, prayer rituals. Women dress up in green clothes, apply mehndi to their hands and feet and swing on decorated swings.
Youth Red Cross society of DAV College in association with Dean Student Welfare, organised Teej Fest on the theme of women empowerment. The event started with a wholesome welcome and musical performance. Performances including Luddi, Bhangra, Gidha were performed by the students.
Speech on various aspects of women empowerment inspired by our rich heritage were highly appreciated by the audience. Many stalls such as malpua stalls, kheer stalls and mehndi stalls were set there for showing rich heritage. The event ended with a graceful and energetic punjabi dance on Dhol and DJ.
Harmunish Taneja, Dean Student Welfare and Bhushan Kumar, Coordinator of the event thanked the entire staff and faculty members. Approximately 500 students participated in various cultural events.
