10 lakh given to the families of 6 victims
NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : The Punjab State Mandi Board has given the financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 22 lakh 60 thousand to 48 people who had been victims of accidents, belonging to the district, while engaged in agricultural work. A sum of 10 lakh has been given to next of kin of 6 people who had died.
Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that agricultural farm workers are given financial assistance in cases of snake bite, electric shock, disability during working in the fields with thresher combines, inhaling of dangerous spray. He said that an assistance of Rs. 2 lakh in case of death, 10000 in case a finger of a hand is cut, 40 thousand in case of 4 fingers or a complete hand being chopped off is provided by the Government.
He further informed that 30 victims of accidents during 2013-14 have been given financial assistance of Rs. 15 lakh 50 thousand. Divulging more details, he said that market committees of Kharar, Kurali, Banur, Derabassi and Lalru have disbursed assistance in the district. Market Committee Kharar has given financial assistance of 6 lakh 10 thousand to 13 people, Market Committee Kurali has given financial assistance of 3 lakh 30 thousand to 5 people, Market Committee Banur has given financial assistance of 60 thousand to 13 people, Market Committee Derabassi has given financial assistance of 3 lakh 60 thousand and Market Committee Lalru has given assistance of 1 lakh 90 thousand.
Giving more information, he said that during 2014-15, a sum of 7 lakh 10 thousand has been disbursed to 18 victims of agricultural accidents. Market Committee Kharar has given financial assistance of 4 lakh to 7 people, Market Committee Kurali has given financial assistance of 1 lakh 70 thousand to 5 people, Market Committee Banur has given financial assistance of 60 thousand to 13 people, Market Committees of Derabassi and Lalru have given financial assistance of 40 thousand each to 2 people.
