Why You Should Not Play Slots Before Bed: Who doesn’t love playing a few slots now and again? Thanks to the boom in online slots games, you can play a few rounds whenever the mood takes you.

Why You Should Not Play Slots Before Bed

While having that freedom is great, there’s actually some dangers that you need be aware of. One real issue is playing slots right before bed. Why shouldn’t you do this? Let’s find out.

Exposure To Blue Light

You’ll have heard the advice before that you shouldn’t use electronic devices before going to bed. Typically, it’s always best to turn them off at least a couple of hours before you turn in for the night.

That’s because any electronic device, especially a laptop or phone, will emit blue light. This light can actually damage your circadian rhythms, making it much harder to get to sleep at night. In the worst case scenario, you can actually develop insomnia.

There are other measures you can take, such as apps that reduce the amount of blue light from your device as the sun goes down, mimicking the light outside. However, these aren’t going to help a lot when it comes to slot games. When you’re playing them, there’s going to be lots of bright colours and sounds. They’re not going to be conducive to a good night’s sleep, so it’s best to wrap up as game a few hours before bed.

Addictive Playing

Online gambling is fun to get into, and when you gamble responsibly you’ll have a good time. As online casinos become more and more accessible with more and more new brands launching, many find that it’s easier to get addicted to playing. That’s partly due to the nature as the game, as with each spin you get closer to a possible payout.

It’s important to know the signs of problem gambling. If you’re spending more and more on online gambling, or are missing school or work to do so, then that’s a problem. You may also be having issues if you put off going to bed to play more.

If you think you are having issues, there should be player protection tools to help you. These include time and deposit limits, so you can restrict how much you play. Make sure to use these if you think you need them.

Overstimulation

While slots are very bright and colourful, and aren’t the best for playing right before bed, there’s still a lot to be said for them. Studies have shown that slots games can actually help improve brain function. It works in a similar way to children’s toys, which are also bright and colourful.

While that’s good news, it does show why you shouldn’t be playing slots right before you go to sleep. As the games stimulate your brain, that’s the opposite of what you want right before bedtime. Instead, you need something that will help you relax. Something like a podcast designed for sleep, or a book, will be much more helpful.

Eyesight Issues

Finally, it’s also worth being aware that the longer you play slots, the worse it will be for your eyes. This is the same for using any device for longer periods of time, as the screen can strain your eyes. Slots are an issue here, as slots sessions can go for three hours or more. That’s a long time to be glued to your screen.

There are some precautions you can take here. For example, you can get blue light blocking glasses, to reduce eye strain. You can also take frequent breaks from the game and the screen.

It’s important for you to take care of your sleep health, and so it’s best to wrap up slots games before bedtime. That way, you can get a good night’s rest.
