NewZNew (Chandigarh) : YES BANK has conducted workshops across its branches pan India, focusing on women in Banking and promoting financial literacy among women. YES BANK under its community engagement platform YES COMMUNITY, has conducted these workshops, since the International Women’s day, with an objective to provide access to banking sector as a career for women and to provide basic financial education relating to personal finance, enabling individuals to take effective action to improve overall well-being and avoid financial distress, an imperative for sustainable development.

Well over 25,000 women across all walks of life, participated in these sessions, conducted with an aim to sensitize them towards the importance of financial planning and enable them to evolve as financially responsible and aware citizens.

Highlighting the importance of Financial Literacy for women,  Ms Namita Vikas, Senior President and Country Head, Responsible Banking, YES BANK Ltd said, “Banking has traditionally been a preferred career option for women and they have performed exceptionally well in this space. However, there is a need for financial literacy on a large scale to motivate more women to choose banking as a career opportunity. Today, when women are increasingly taking up roles of financial responsibility, it is important that there is a supportive eco-system to build their capabilities. With the new Government’s focus on financial inclusion, there has been a renewed vigor to remove financial barriers at all levels. YES BANK is reaching out to women through this initiative to equip them with resources that will enable them to embrace financial independence and a possible career in banking”.
