NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Sh. Mohinder Singh Ji, Sanyojak, Chandigarh Branch told that Thirteen couples tied their nuptial knot at a mass marriage ceremony organized by the Social Welfare Department of the Sant Nirankari Mission Delhi today. The mass marriages were organized in a simple ceremony held at Samagam Ground, Burari Road. While His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji blessed the couples, thousands of devotees including the parents, friends and relatives of the brides and bridegrooms, attended the ceremony.
The simple ceremony was marked by the traditional Jaymala followed by a Common Garland for each couple – a special feature of a Nirankari wedding. Four sacred hymns (Lawan) were recited by singers with full spirit of devotion. Simultaneously, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji showered the flower-petals from the dais. The devotees also joined them in showering the flowers.
Among bridegrooms, 6 came from Delhi, 2 from Uttarakhand and 1 each from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Three bridegrooms came from overseas – 2 from USA and 1 from Dubai. Among brides, 3 belonged to Delhi, 2 to Uttarakhand, while 1 each came from U.K., Germany, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
The Mass Marriages were marked by 3 Inter-country and 8 Inter-state weddings. Only 2 couples belonged to the same place i.e., Delhi.
Blessing the couples, Baba Harder Singh Ji Maharaj congratulated the brides and bride-grooms and their families for having come from far off regions of the country and abroad and chosen this simple wedding ceremony. In fact, it is noticed that the trend for such simple ceremony in the presence of fellow-devotees and seeking their blessings is catching up day by day. A number of couples participated in the Mass Marriage Function held in November in Delhi and then 141 couples tied their nuptial knot at the Mass Wedding Ceremony in Mumbai in January. Baba Ji said that even during his visit to Australia and New Zealand this month several couples came for this ceremony.
His Holiness advised the couples not to get influenced by material world but continue to attend congregations. It is here that they will learn human values like love, humility, broad-mindedness, tolerance and sweetness of language which are so necessary to make married life happy, prosperous and blissful. He said that every house can turn into a heaven if all these values are adopted by other members of the family also. Our social relations are bound to become stronger and stronger if love, faith and devotion are given priority, he said.
