Directed by Yuichiro Hayashi, this anime television series is an adaptation of the manga ‘Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler’ by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tōru Naomura. The series is located in the elite Hyakkaou Private Academy, where students from rich and powerful families are not rated on their scores or physical abilities but on their ability to gamble. The more accomplished the skills, the further up the student rises in the hierarchy, and those who fall into debt become servants. The addictive nature of gambling is broached nearly as a turn-on within the series, about whom is standing Yumeko Jabami, an enigmatic new student who lives for bets and risks more than her peers realize or anticipate. ‘Bet’ is the live-action version of ‘Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler.’ The drama series puts us face to face with Yumeko, an enigmatic young lady, who enrolls in the prestigious private school St. Dominic’s Prep, where everything is decided through gambling. Although Yumeko enjoys gaming too and obviously has a crazy streak that apparently stems from her addiction to the game, she comes to the school as her motivation is based on what happened before at the school.
