Adviser inaugurates community centre at Maloya village, Chandigarh

Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh today inaugurated Community Centre at village Maloya, Chandigarh in presence of Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Smt. Gurbax Rawat, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Sh. S.K. Chadha, Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Administration, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Sh. N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer, B&R, other councilors of MC, dignitaries of area and other prominent persons.

The Adviser appreciated the engineering department of MC for their speedy work to provide this community centre within stipulated time frame. He said that he inspected the area in this year and instructed the engineering department to provide community centre there. He said that the community centre not only provide space for celebrating family functions, but it gives many more facilities like library for children, gym for all walks of people and also a centre where people can gather to discuss their problems with the authorities.

While giving information about the community centre, the Mayor said that the community centre has been provided at a cost of 2 crores spread in 0.7 acre land including construction of 6044 Sq. ft. in ground floor having dining hall, sitting hall, lobby, office and toilets for ladies and gents, chowkidar room, while the first floor consisting of 5278 Sq. ft. area having dormitory, library, gym, brida room, store and toilets for ladies and gents.

She said that with the provision of this community centre, the local people need not think much about celebrating any kind of family functions, programmes etc. She further mentioned about the cleanliness in the area and addressed the public for keeping their surroundings neat and clean to avoid the diseases. She listed various developmental works going on in the village by the Municipal Corporation.
