NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Awaaz Chandigarh, the non-profit organization, after their Cultural Events and Art Exhibition, came up with their fourth event, a unique fundraising event, with a two gold motive, raising funds for poor children and encouraging young chefs in the city.
The event was organized at Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Complex, Sec-67, Mohali on the morning of 3rd April, 2016. Starting exactly at 10:30 am, the event saw an enthusiastic response, as participants got to their tables and began preparing their dishes, the idea was of no use of heat and electricity and the creativity even under such conditions was flourishing like a rainbow and each contestant displayed the spirit of sportsmanship.
The core team of the organization led by Azal Dosanjh and Danish Bhaisn – founders and directors of the organization- consisted of, Karan Nagpal, Sanchit Malik, Anirudh Bansal, Armaan Singh Anand and Mukund Kakkar, the event was hosted by the members of the organization, Prabhmehar Singh and Sophia Dhawan, with Shivam Dhawan on sound system, and event design by Vitista Moza. With special thanks to Shubam Saini, Manit Prashar, Raahat Kataria and Gurbaaz Makhan for coverage of the event. The organization which is completely run by students of high school put in a lot of efforts to create a little change in the society.
The esteemed Judge at the event was, Prof. Vishal Kalia, Vice Principal, Institute of Hotel Management Chandigarh. He carefully examined the eighteen dishes prepared by different participants, Vidisha Arora, a young aspiring chef stood out to be the winner with Aleema Nalwa and Usha Utreja coming out to be first and second runner up respectively. Verbal mention awards were bagged by Shrey Jain and Kaveri Utreja. The event ended with the kind and encouraging words of the president of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Complex, Mr Jaswinder Singh, followed by closing words of Prof. Vishal Kalia.
The entire team of Awaaz, Chandigarh extended Special thanks to RWA of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Complex, sector-67, Mohali. People donated wholeheartedly in the form of cash, clothes and books for the children. All the funds raised henceforth shall be used for the kids of an Orphanage. The Directors and founders of the NPO gave their respect to the Prof. Vishal Kalia and Mr Jaswinder Singh for their support. It is young people like these that we need today to bring about a change in the society, to create a platform for our liberal arts and to bring a revolution through it in our society.
