NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Today the city residents ran for health and fitness at Sukhna Lake. A first of its kind mass event held to promote fitness, the event saw participation of around 1500-2000 people of all age groups. Government and private schools’ students and teachers, NCC and NSS cadets especially became a part of this endeavor.
Brigadier M.G Sekaran, commandant NCC (Punjab, Harayana and Himachal) was the chief guest of event followed Mr Deepak Kainth superintendent of DC Office Chandigarh as guest of honor. This event, the first of its kind, will now be held every alternate month in order to promote and celebrate fitness in the entire Chandigarh.
Organized by Master Creations in association with NGO Environment Society Of India this season of Fitness Geri aimed at celebrating Say No To Tobacco Day and promote a healthy lifestyle by making people pledge and take the challenge to quit smoking.
Event was enriched by the Zeal Of Zumba Dance, the Power of Bhangra Aerobics, adventurous fun marathon, back to the roots games like sack race, lemon spoon race, tug of war and the BMX Bike Show.
“Our goal for this event is to encourage people of Tricity to take control of their health: to learn the facts they need to make smart health choices and to make time for regular physical activity,” said, organizers’s Master Creations.
