On July 18 (today), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will be announcing the results for the Chartered Accountants Final examination held in May 2017 and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) held in June 2017. ICAI result will be declared on the official website icaiexam.icai.org at around 2:00 pm. The Institute would also publish the All-India merit list along with the results. The merit list would be drawn comprising the students securing minimum 55 percent and above marks and will consist of top 50 students only.
A total of 1,32,007 students appeared in the CA final examination at 372 centres across the globe. In the CPT exam held in June 2017, as many as 93,262 students appeared. To access the CA Final result May 2017 and CA CPT result online, the students will have to enter their registration number of PIN number along with the roll number.
Students who wish to receive their results on their email ids can register for the same. All such candidates would be mailed their ICAI exam result as soon as it is declared by the institute. The result will also be available through SMS.
The candidate appearing in the Common Proficiency Test shall ordinarily be declared to have passed the test if he/she obtains, at one sitting, a minimum of 30 percent marks in each section and a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all the sections comprised in CPT (Examination), subject to the principle of negative marking, in such manner as may be determined by the Council from time to time.
CPT is the first level of Chartered Accountant course. In addition to CPT result, ICAI will also release a merit list of candidates scoring 55% and above. Successful candidates will be eligible to register themselves for the CA Integrated Professional Competency Course (CA IPCC). Candidates securing a minimum of 60 percent marks up to 10th Rank will be issued Rank Certificate within 4 weeks of the declaration of result provided a minimum of 2,500 candidates appear in the CPT held on a particular day.
CA Final is the last level of the Chartered Accountancy course. It consists of two groups of four papers each. Candidates who are in the last 6 months of article-ship are eligible to appear in both or anyone groups. The criteria for qualifying any or both of the groups are-
- A minimum of 40% in all papers.
- A minimum of 50% aggregate in all papers.
In addition to the result, ICAI will also release a merit list of candidates up to 50th rank. In the case of failing a group, the candidate will have to re-appear for all the papers in that group. Successful candidates who have qualified both groups can acquire Associate Membership in the ICAI after 15 days of General Management Course (GMC) training.
