CGC Jhanjeri Launches Financial Aid Programme Scholarships worth Rs. 2 Crore to Support Needy Students: The Management of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri (CGC) has come out with a novel scheme of helping the needy & meritorious students to pursue various courses offered in the college.
Scholarships worth Rs. 2 crores will be given to the wards of COVID-19 warriors, meritorious students, wards of defence personnel, outstanding sports persons, family members of CGC staff and many other categories.
The scholarships will be given at the time of taking admissions in various courses being offered in CGC Jhanjeri for the session 2020 – 21. These courses include B.Tech (Mech., Civil, CSE, ECE), MBA, BBA, BCA, B.Com. (Hons), M.Com., B.Sc. (Fashion Designing), B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Sc. (Hons.) Nutrition & Dietetics.
Speaking about the scheme, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that to make higher education accessible to financially constrained students who have performed meritoriously, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri has launched a highly generous “CGC Financial Aid” for academic session 2020 – 21 worth Rs. 2 crores. The aim is to bring help and hope at the door step of COVID-19 warriors, meritorious students, wards of defence personnel, exceptional sports performers, single girl child, handicapped students, sibling concessions, and others. Our basic aim is to remove the financial deterrence in pursuing quality higher education.
Arshdeep Dhaliwal joined the President CGC to kick start the CGC Financial Aid 2020 – 21 scheme. Arshdeep stated – “Since long we have been planning to bridge the disparity between accessing higher education and financial limitations of families. The Rs. 2 crores CGC Financial Aid is a step towards achieving this objective.”
Giving further details, Dr. G. D. Bansal, Director General, said that pursuing a quality undergraduate and post-graduate degree comes at a cost owing to the whole range of infrastructure and other facilities required to provide good quality education. A number of families lack the finances to pay for such education. Realizing this big gap, and to come out with a solution, CGC Jhanjeri has launched this financial assistance. Dr. Bansal is confident that this scheme will prove highly beneficial to the students who could not pursue their studies due to financial constraints.
