NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : The Students of Agriculture department of Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri Campus visited National Dairy Research Institute Karnal which is one of the premier institutes in India. Experts of NDRI gave presentations to the students which included processing and management of dairy products. The research projects, teaching and extension activities in dairy development were also explained. Students visited dairy processing and the production units manufacturing dairy products like flavored milk, milk powder, ghee, pizza, cheese, table butter etc.
Later, they visited Campus Livestock Research Centre ,where they came across different breeds of buffaloes and breeds produced in NDRI like Karan Swiss and Karan Fries. The students also saw the world’s second cloned buffalo calf through the advanced hand guided cloning technique. The students also had an opportunity to know about animal health complex, where milking of cows was done with the help of machines. They were explained about high tech censors, which are tied to the neck of and buffaloes to calculate the quantity of food consumed by them.
While speaking at the moment Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC, Jhanjeri said that the students were taken to various Agricultural fields, institutes and industries to give them a practical knowledge of their subjects. He further ensured that such efforts will give practical shape and new heights to students career.
