NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : With the world coming together to jointly address the serious concern over climate change, Fortis Hospital Mohali’s sustained contribution in this direction has been applauded and recognized by the Union Ministry of Power.
In appreciation of its achievements in ‘Energy Conservation’, the ministry has conferred the 2nd prize in the National Energy Conservation Awards 2015 in the Hospital Sector on Fortis Hospital Mohali. Mr Neeraj Tandon, Head – Engineering, Fortis Mohali, received the award on behalf of the hospital from Mr Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, in a ceremony organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day observed on December 14, 2015.
Fortis Mohali has also won the CII National Award for Excellence in Energy Management twice consecutively.
Commending Fortis Mohali for its green efforts, the Union Ministry of Power has stated: “Fortis Mohali started operations in 2001, and had received ‘Best Design of the Year’ by the American Institute of Architecture. With the hospital having added Fortis Cancer Institute (Oncology Block) in its fold, it was mindful of the fact that energy saving initiatives were desperately needed. These were taken over the year and energy conservation methods were implemented. As a result, despite increasing the area, the energy consumption remained the same.”
The Union minister, while congratulating the awardees, said, “I congratulate the awardees for being the industry champions and taking significant steps towards energy conservation and award efficiency, which have not only been beneficial to the Government but also to the individual units to improve their cost effectiveness.”
Congratulations Team Fortis Mohali for the incredible achievement, Mr Ashish Bhatia, Regional Director (North), Fortis Healthcare Ltd, thanked the Government of India for recognizing the hospital’s efforts in energy conservation. Mr Abhijit Singh, Facility Director, Fortis Mohali, said, “We have zealously adopted energy conservation, and it is now a way of life with the institution, and its entire staff. We reiterate our resolve to continue to make efforts towards a cleaner and greener planet, which echoes with our philosophy of ‘Saving and Enriching Lives’.”
