NewZNew (Bathinda) : At the Verka Milk Plant Bathinda, the Union Minister for Food Processing, Harsimrat Kaur Badal laid foundation stone of modern dairy and ice cream plant. Giving information in this context here today the chairman Milkfed Mr Amarjit Singh Sidhu said that the new plant is being constructed at a cost of Rs 30 cr and will be ready by Nov 2016.
Congratulating the milk producers at event, the Union Minister announced that center government will provide all possible help to the plant. She said that the setting up of plant will not only provide people premium quality ice cream but will also fetch handsome milk price for the dairy owners.
Chairman Mr Sidhu said that the present capacity of plant is 1 lac liters per day, which is being augmented to 2 lacs liters per day. Besides this, 250 auto milk collection centers will be put up in villages wherein the milk producers will get result of milk testing on spot, will bring transparency to system and all the cooperative societies will be linked together through internet.
In order to maintain the right quality of milk 16 bulk milk cooling centers are being installed in cooperative societies so that the milk procured is cooled as soon as possible. Besides this 78 buildings are also being constructed for cooperative societies. He added that the Milkfed cares for its milk producers. As compared to 18 lacs liters of milk procured per day last year, the Milkfed collected 22 lacs liters of milk per day. He suggested the milk producers to adopt allied businesses to supplement their sources of income. The chairman also formally launched Jeera Raita and Shahi Dahi products of the Milkfed.
