DANCE, BONFIRE AND A LOT MORE DURING LOHRI AT PUNJAB UNIVERSITY
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Lohri was celebrated with a lot of dance and fervour at the Student Centre, Punjab University. As the DJ belted out hit after hit students took to the dance floor and danced away to glory, which was a befitting tribute to the North Indian Festival of ‘Lohri’.
Excitement filled the air when the Anchor of the event involved students in different games and made the celebration quite interactive. A huge bonfire, which is the most important part of ‘Lohri’ festivities, was lit and this became the centre of attraction, as students were seen dancing around it on the tunes of the famous ‘Lohri’ song — ‘Sundariye Mundariye Ho’.
Good portions of Rewri, Gajak and Mungfali(Peanuts) were available and students were seen enjoying these popular ‘Lohri’ eats, as they broke into interesting jigs to celebrate the festival.
The celebration was managed and executed by Starbizz India Entertainment with the help of Punjab University Campus Students Council, to give an opportunity to students of the University to enjoy ‘Lohri’. The event was supported by ‘Anees School’, ‘Look My Job’, ‘MD Advertisers’ and ‘Mayo Superspeciality Hospital’.
Said Mr. Yadvinder Singh, MD, Starbizz India Entertainment, “The event had all the elements of Lohri & students enjoyed the celebration to the hilt. I would like to thank the office of Dean Students Welfare of the University for providing all help to ensure smooth conduct of the ‘Lohri’ event.”
To give a typically Punjabi and traditional touch to the event, presentations by ‘Dholis’ were also organized. ‘Dhols’ spread out scintillating & foot tapping beats and students could not but help doing the ‘Bhangra’.
