NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The International Space Society (ISS) – an international non-profit, educational and scientific organisation specialising in space advocacy in collaboration with Rocketeers- India’s first Model Rocketry agency co-founded by ex-ISRO scientists, has announced the first Model Rocketry festival of India. The event is to take place from 18th to 19th December, 2015 at Dikshant Global School, VIP Road, Zirakpur. Students from over 100 schools of the region have been invited. The workshops during the Festival will be conducted by a team from Rocketeers. This was announced at a media meet in Chandigarh.
“This festival will hold a workshop which, for the first time in all of India will introduce solid black powder fuel powered model rockets to students, to build, learn, fly and experiment with. This will be an Annual event where enthusiasts can participate to learn and pursue model rocketry, build rockets, participate in competitions and workshops.” Said Suresh Naik, Former Group Director, ISRO & Chairman, ISS.
Students participating the Festival will get a chance to interact with Space & Rocket scientists too.
“This is a one of a kind event which is being setup to educate the school students about the space industry and the careers opportunities therein. It will showcase the amazing world of rockets and the science behind them and make students more enthusiastic towards learning science and math.” Said Mitul Dikshit, President, ISS.
The Rocketry Festival aims at spreading awareness about space industry and rocket science among school students and encourages them for a career in science.
“Rocketeers conducts workshops, seminars and R & D club activities with students and institutes across the Nation to achieve goals of promoting a scientific temperament among students.” Said Divyanshu Poddar, Co Founder,Rocketeers.
The Rocketery Festival is sure to provide students with required direction and guidance to pursue hands on learning activities in the field.
