EmPOWER NGO plans number of fun-filled activities during carnival’
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : EmPOWER , the NGO which was formed recently under the aegis of Joy Lall Memorial Educational Society by city based social workers, Mrs. Bharti Kapoor and Mrs. Sharmita Bhinder will organize a mega Carnival Fest., EmPOWER-Joy at Lake Club, Chandigarh on December 12 from 10 am to 7 pm. The NGO, which works for betterment of specially and differently able children, have planned number of fun filled activities during carnival in its efforts to link special children with mainstream life .
Addressing a press conference at Lake Club, here today , Mrs. Bharti Kapoor and Mrs. Sharmita Bhinder informed that the main attraction of carnival will be a fashion show where special children will take part along with leading models and designers. Some well-known artists including Rana Ranvir, the famous comedian will also perform during the fashion show. The other activities includes variety of stalls, games, rides, thematic decorations, photo booths, makeup and tattoo artists and food stalls. All these will be paid and sponsored and free for special kids and their parents. The funds generated from carnival will be used for NGO projects for special children.”
“The idea behind carnival is to celebrate December 12th in a unique and different manner. EmPOWER wishes to contribute and work for social awareness and sensitization. EmPOWER is a project to amalgamate the special children and differently abled children with the mainstream society and increase their interaction with people. We want to enhance the awareness levels through a more interesting and a lively way where the special and the differently able children are able to come out of their shells and make a significant social presence and impact. This project is being planned for some reasons so that we are able to create a substantial difference and impact.”
Through this project we aim to bring awareness in society about this huge section of society. We want to bring happiness into the life of the differently abled and to make them feel loved and appreciated. To achieve maximum results, we have also planned to involve housewives and students who have time on their hands and want to do something meaningful with their time, maintained Mrs. Kapoor.
We will also release a small booklet on special education besides various NGO’s working on world disability day with mention of all the sponsors. A souvenir carrying articles on various NGOs, educational institutions and a directory of phone numbers of various special educators will also be released. It is a fundraiser invent and with the support of the government and private sector we would like to establish a modern computerized printing setup for training special and differently able children in the field of printing, graphic designing, animation etc., asserted Mrs. Bhinder.
Meanwhile the sponsors of carnivals includes, U.T. Administration, Haryana Administration, Directorate of Sports , Zaira Diamonds, INIFD, Aamantra online, Ivy Hospital, SHE’S, Chandigarh (Sacred Heart Old Students Association), Rama Properties, Urban mélange, Desh Bhagat Radio 107.8FM, Elite events, Little Kittens, Gifts Arcade, Sudhrishti, Urban Photos and Aaroos etc. The institutions attached to this carnival are; PGIMER, GMCH-32, Prayas, Snehalya, Aashadeep, Association of Muscular Dystrophy, Sorem, Aasha School, Gurasara Trust, Blind School and Karuna Sadan.
