NewZNew (Bathinda) : The work of lifting procured wheat from the grain markets of district started today. Getting the wheat lifting work started from grain markets today the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Dr Basant Garg directed the officials to ensure that the procured wheat was lifted within 72 hours from the mandi. He added that the wheat lifted in time bound manner would not only benefit the farmers but the procurement agencies too.
The Deputy Commissioner added the organizations of labors and truck unions have asserted that work on lifting procured wheat would be conducted smoothly and in time bound manner. He added that the crop would be timely lifted across all the grain markets so that the farmers bringing their produce to the mandis do not suffer. He said that till April 21 evening, the district had recorded arrival of 1.33 lacs MT of wheat of which 60000 MT has been procured. The District Food and Supplies Officer MR A P Singh said that on April 21, 50000 MT of arrival was recorded.
The Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg today visited grain markets of Goniana, Bhucho, Lehra and Sangat area. The ADC (general) Mr Sumit Jarangal and SDM Bathinda Mr Damanjit Singh Maan were also present.
