Master Degree Projects Presented by NIIFT Students: Master of Design in Fashion & Textiles (M.Des. F & T),Fashion Marketing and Management (FMM) and Garment Manufacturing and Technology (GMT) students of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT, Mohali) presented their final Master Degree projects at the NIIFT Campus, Mohali.

This year a total of 15 projects by (M.Des. F & T) , 4 research projects from the FMM department and 3 projects from the GMT department were presented. It was an important moment for the students who were given degrees and trophies too.

Geetika Singh,PCS, Director, Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Mohali, commented, “The presentations made by the students gave a deep analysis of the market conditions and manufacturing competitiveness and were of a very high order.”

Vishav Bandhu, Registrar,NIIFT said , “The projects presented by the students are need based industry projects. The M.Sc programs at NIIFT are the support systems for garment industry wherein the students under the direct supervision of senior industry  representatives and their faculty members are doing research projects.”

Dr Poonam Aggarwal Thakur, Principal, NIIFT congratulated the passing out students for showcasing deep understanding and analysis of Research problems and offering the industry very practical and commercial solutions.

Awards were given by the Director, NIIFT, Registrar, NIIFT, Principal NIIFT and Jury Members. The Award categories for this year for all Degree project presentations were Best Degree Project, Most Innovative Project and Most Industry Relevant Project.

The jury that evaluated the projects of M.Des. F & T comprised of eminent personalities such as Mr. Karan Malhotra (Senior Business Development Manager at Pratibha Syntex, Indore), Mr. Madan Lal (Eminent International Artist), Dr. Radha Kanwal Sharma(Research Analyst), Ms. Shwetambari (Academician), Dr. Poonam Aggarwal Thakur, Course Coordinator -M.Des. F & T Cum Principal NIIFT, Mohali/Ludhiana.

The jury evaluating the projects of M.Sc  Fashion Marketing and Management (FMM) and  M.Sc Garment Manufacturing and Technology (GMT)comprised of eminent personalities such as Ms. Sumita Sikka, HOD Fashion Design Department, SD College ,Dr. Radha Kanwal Sharma(Research Analyst), Dr. Meeta Gawri, Course Coordinator, M.Sc Fashion Marketing and Management, NIIFT and Mr. Kamaljit Singh Rana – Course Coordinator , M.Sc Garment Manufacturing Technology, NIIFT.

According to Dr Meeta Gawri,HOD, FMM, “The presentations made by the students give insight into analysis of market conditions and productive competitiveness, creation of the optimum condition for demonstration of production, quality and sampling.”

Kamaljit Singh Rana, HOD, GMT said, “Students have put in a lot of effort and hard work which could be seen in their work.”

The students work in conjunction with the known names of the industry for a period of three months and find out areas of concern thereby giving suggestions, implementing and helping the units to resolve the problems being faced by the factory or management in order to compete in the market.

The presentation ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Poonam Aggarwal Thakur Course Coordinator, M.Des. Cum Principal NIIFT, Mohali/Ludhiana), Mr. Kamaljit Singh Rana, HOD, GMT and Dr. Meeta Gawri , HOD, FMM department.

Admissions are open now in NIIFT  and the last date of submission of applications is 18th June 2022. Admissions to the Degree Programs is based on clearing the entrance test which is scheduled for 21st June 2022 and 22nd June 2022. The entrance test is followed by the situation test/ interviews and counseling respectively. Details are available on the website www.niiftindia.com
