Nari Jagriti Manch celebrated Lohri to celebrate the Girl Child : Nari Jagriti Manch (Regd.), Chandigarh, honored girls to celebrate the festival of Lohri at Shri Hanumant Dham temple situated at Sector 40 B, by giving a memento to the 100 daughters of tricity. They were in age group from the 15-day-old girl to 12 years of age.
The event was organized under the chairmanship of Nari Jagriti Manch President Neena Tewari. Other members of the Forum along with Prem Lata, Sudarshan Sharma, Pal Sharma, Sushila Kesar, Ranju Grover and other members were present.
The program was inaugurated by the President of the Manch, Neena Tewari, who lighted up the lamp, after which colourful and cultural events were presented by the girls. There was Gidda, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Ramp walk and Western Dance performances.
On this occasion Lohri fire was lit by the forum and wished for the bright future of daughters. Neena Tewari highlighted the importance of daughters in society first. She said on this occasion that daughters are the important part of our society and need to be respected, adding that girls are at par with men in all aspects. She added this programme was an effort to show the concern for the girl child.
