NewZNew (Panchkula) : Doon Public School, Panchkula, organised a very pertinent celebration on the occasion of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s birthday. The event saw participation of freedom fighters and kin of Kargil Martyrs.
Sh. Deshraj Pardesi, A Freedom Fighter and Sh. Harbans Lal Sagar Father of Maj. Sandeep Sagar who is an Indian Army martyr were honoured. Mr. Jagtar Singh, ACP Traffic, Panchkula, was also present.
The objective was to make children aware of the sacrifice made by Netaji and highlight the difficulties faced during days of freedom struggle. A skit ‘Badlaav Ki Aandhi’ was also staged which was a parody on present day free India. It showed how even after freedom India was still under rule of corruption & dirty politics. The students presented the play wearing costumes that went well with the theme. The satire reflected the enormous difference between the vision which the freedom fighters had for the country and the real situation on the ground in Independent India. Netaji’s song ‘Vande Matram’ was also sung and as was ‘Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja’. The environment was charged with patriotic fervour.
Principal Captain Sanjay Anand, SM, said, “Our past history related to the freedom struggle should be taught to the students lest they forget that many sacrifices were made by our ancestors before we attained Independence. This celebration will help students become aware of freedom and its importance.”
“Our independence is again under threat by forces inimical to our motherland and therefore we must guard against such elements and defeat them at their own game, just like my son did though he had to sacrifice his life in doing so,” said Mr. Harbans Lal Sagar father of Maj Sandeep Sagar.
It will be recalled that Major Sandeep Sagar was martyred along the line of control during Operation Vijay.
