NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Sant Nirankari Charitable Fundation celebrated Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj Birthday today through “Cleanliness drive” & “Tree Plantation”. In this cleanliness drive, thousands of devotees participated; which included ladies, children and elderly people. All devotees gathered with brooms in their hands & started cleaning of their respective designated areas from 7:00 am onwards. They performed cleaning at 63 places in 26 wards designated by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.
These places especially included Cremation ground area of Sector 25, drain of Sector 16-23, sewerage drain of Maloya, Gursagar colony, Sector 41 market, Forest land of Sector 40, Dispensary of Ram Darbar & Hallo Majra, Bapu Dham Colony, Apni Mandi Ram Darbar, Tribune Colony, Reserve Bank of India Parking-Sector 17, Police Colony of Sector 20, Sukhna lake Parking, Forest land of Sector 45, Drain of Sector 52, Colony number 4; which were neglected areas till now in view of cleanliness. Garbage was also removed from backyards of sector-15 residences.
During cleaning of sector 16-23 drain; SH Vijay Dev, IAS- Adviser to The Administrator- Chandigarh Administration; Municipal corporation Mayor Sh Arun Sood & councilors- Sh Subhash Chawla, Sh Saurabh Joshi, Smt Asha Jaiswal and all councilors of their respective areas were present during cleanliness drive. Sh Dev appreciated the cleanliness wave started by Nirankari devotees on Birthday of Baba Hardev Singh Ji. Sh Dev also mentioned about Indian Government directions to Municipal corporations across country to participate whole heartedly in cleanliness drive started by Nirankari mission. Sh Dev also expressed that such cleanliness drives motivate other organization and people to keep Chandigarh neat and clean as this is not possible through one organization or Municipal Corporation. Hence everybody should participate in such drives to make Chandigarh city as number one clean city of country.
Chandigarh mayor Sh Arun Sood said that today Nirankari devotees have cleaned those areas which were not cleaned till date by anybody including Municipal Corporation. Sh Sood appreciated the cleaning of Cremation ground & Sector16-23 drain & said that there was heaps of garbage in these areas which was cleaned by Nirankaris in just two hours by removing many trucks full of Garbage, which is commendable. Sh Sood further said that as per his knowledge no other organization celebrated their Guru Birthday through cleanliness drive as is being done by Nirankaris since last many years. Sh Sood also requested all citizens to come forward for cleanliness drive from time to time to make Chandigarh cleaner.
Smt Joginder Kaur ji-Member In charge-Training Parchar, Sant Nirankari mandal welcomed Sh Dev & SH sood by presenting a bouquet & a shawl. Smt Kaur committed to all officers of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation that Nirankari devotees shall be readily available as and when required by administration for such drive & this is not restricted for today only. Central Parchark-Sh Niranjan Singh-IAS (Retd) said that such drives motivate devotees & spectators also not to spread garbage at any public place.
In the end, Dr B.S Cheema ji, Zonal Incharge-Chandigarh welcomed all officers of Chandigarh administration and Municipal Corporation by presenting a bouquet & a shawl. Sh Joshi ji could not stop him in participating in the drive despite his plastered leg. Dr Cheema thanked every devotee who participated in this drive and prayed to almighty to bless them with all happiness of Body, Mind and Wealth.
After cleanliness drive, Tree Plantation was also undertaken at Sector-47, Chandigarh by planting 200 trees in order to improve the environment. On this occasion, Senior Deputy Devesh Mudgil also participated in tree plantation along with Smt Joginder Kaur, Dr B. S. Cheema & Sh Mohinder Singh ji-Sanyojak. On this occasion Sh Sham Sunder & SH Sohan Singh Banga ji, Mukhi of Chandigarh area along with Sewa Dal incharges of all units was also present.
Sh Mohinder Singh-Sanyojak briefed that Urban Development Ministry has assigned responsibility of cleaning 114 government hospitals located in 108 cities. In addition to this, responsibility to clean 46 “A” grade railway stations of India is also assigned to Nirankari mission by Railway Ministry, where every month since October 2015; Nirankari devotees perform cleaning of each railway station.
