NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Inaugurating the First Ever International Electric Vehicle Expo “EV-Expo” showcasing technologically advanced, pollution free, E-Vehicles, E-Rickshaws & E-Carts,  Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport & Highways said  “the Government is committed to providing clean air for citizens and will take all steps possible to introduce only eco-friendly vehicles for public transport. There is a definitive need to convert to E-Vehicles to combat vehicular pollution.”

E-Carts is in line with Govt.’s objective to:

  • To convert 10% of 2/3/4 wheel vehicles plying on the Indian roads into Hybrid/ E-Vehicles
  • To curb vehicular pollution menace affecting thousands of people in Delhi
  • To provide ‘Employment to All’ under Prime Minister’s Self Employment Scheme.
  • To provide livelihood to 2 crore families by providing training to 2 crore drivers to drive E-Rickshaws
  • To stop inhuman and degrading practice of human beings pulling another human being
  • Towards realization of National Electric Mobility Mission
  • To provide safe, pollution free, environment friendly, cost effective transport solution
  • To boost safety, comfort, convenience and last-mile connectivity to the passengers
  • To make India a pollution free country

 “As part of efforts to curb pollution, the Govt. has already taken various steps. By passing of Motor Vehicles (Amendment Bill, 2015) the Road Transport and Highways Ministry has brought  E-Vehicles – E-Carts, E-Rickshaws under the ambit of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.” Said Mr Gadkari

“EV –Expo is in line with the Govt’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) which aims to have 6-7 million electric/ hybrid vehicles on the road by 2020 along with a definite level of indigenization of technology ensuring India’s global leadership in E-vehicle segments.” He added

“The government has also decided to provide low interest loan at three per cent a year under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana to rickshaw operators belonging to poor, backward, and minority communities to buy e-rickshaws.” Added Mr Gadkari

“The Government has announced an overarching scheme to uplift  urban and rural poor through enhancement of livelihood opportunities through skill development and other means, in next 2-3 years the Skill Development Ministry will provide training to 2 crore drivers to drive E-Rickshaws  which will provide livelihood to 2 crore families as well.” Added Mr Gadkari.

Mr Gadkari emphatically pointed out that “the inhuman practice of human beings pulling another human being should be stopped. The e – rickshaws will play an important role in utilizing energy for carrying passengers and goods instead of the degrading practice of using physical human labour.”

“The government has also taken precautions to ensure that the drivers are the owners of these e-rickshaws, and prevent cartelisation of the sector where one person owns 50 or 100 such e-rickshaws and keeps drivers on daily wages. The non-polluting e-rickshaws will help reduce the inhuman cycle rickshaws and help generate employment.” Said Mr Gadkari

“Govt. is all out to promote E-Rickshaws & E-Carts to provide “End mile connectivity and environment friendly transport solutions in order to boost passenger safety, convenience and in making India pollution free country.” Said Mr Rajiv AroraFounder Member Electric Rickshaw Manufacturers Association & Organizer EV-Expo.

The four-day international EV-EXPO at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from December 24 to December 27, 2015 at Hall No 14 will showcase the latest technological advancements in environment friendly electric vehicle, component, services and products for the transportation of passengers and goods.

More than 100 + Indian & International E-Vehicle companies are showcasing their technologically advanced, pollution free, E-Rickshaws, E-Carts & E-Vehicles at EV-EXPO. Over 500 + high level business delegations from China, Germany, Sweden, Japan and other countries have confirmed their visit to EV-Expo.

Some of the prominent Indian companies showcasing their products are Altius Techonologies, OK Play, Soni Electric, Lohia Auto, Base corporation, Kinetic, Sarathi, Victory Electric, Nanya, Goenka, Mayuri, Mini Metro, Thukral electric bikes, Hitek etc etc.

China has the highest number with over 22 Chinese companies showcasing their E-Vehicle products prominent ones being Changzou Yufeng vehice,China, C Y International, lianyugang Yudi Ind., china , Qiangshang , China, Jiangxi Leek Vehicle Co.ltd, Jiangsu Yang deyi vehicle co ltd, Xuzhou.

“EVEXPO-2015 promises to be a significant platform to create an imp ecosystem, explore and understand the technical, policy, market opportunities and challenges for the exhibitors, buyers, global leaders, opinion makers, Govt(s), media and raise awareness about green transportation, electric vehicles, battery rickshaws, E- carts, batteries, motors, components and accessories etc ,” said Mr Rajiv Arora.

“EVEXPO-2015 intends to create an important ecosystem for exhibitors, buyers, global leaders, opinion makers and media and raise awareness about green mobility, electric vehicles, battery rickshaws, batteries, motors, components and accessories,” said Mr Rajiv Arora

“Keeping in view of the important role that e-Rickshaws could play in environment friendly city transportation system, led by Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Government via an ordinance on Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 had also relaxed the norm for getting driving license for e-Rickshaws.” said Mr Anuj Sharma, Chairman, E-Rickshaw Committee, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

Also present at the expo, Mr. Ayush Lohia, CEO, Lohia Auto Industries said, “The first EV-Expo in India is a great initiative that will go a long way in pushing electric vehicles as a reliable, efficient and most important, non-polluting mode for transportation among the masses. It is important that people are made aware about the advantages of e-vehicles over traditional means of transport and encouraged to make a switch so that we make our planet healthy once again for future generations. This unique platform also gives us an excellent opportunity to showcase our wide range of e-vehicles, which are the future mode of transport”.
