Quenching the thirst of farmers – Modern Water Irrigation equipments

NewZNew (Chandigarh/Punjab/Haryana) : Newly launched water irrigation equipments and modern farm services attracted a lot of farmers at the Water Irrigation Expo on the third day of 11th CII Agro Tech 2014, India’s Premier Biennial Agro Technology & Business Fair.

Enthusiastic farmers, business visitors and new-age cultivators pro-actively interacted with the exhibitors on various issues related to the water irrigation, new methods of irrigation, most advanced technologies and also learnt about the intricate irrigation instruments, all aimed at tiding over the issue of diminishing water tables.

This overwhelming response from the visitors has really encouraged the exhibitors at the fair. Mukesh Vishwakarma, Assistant Manager (North India), Netafim Irrigation India Pvt. Ltd. shared that “We are one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of a large product range of drip irrigation system and equipments. Here at CII Agro Tech, we have learnt about the nature of our consumers and also answered their queries related to dripping techniques and solutions. We are much excited to be able to provide irrigation solutions to our customers and we are offering farmers a clear understanding of new-age technologies like drip irrigation techniques and spray irrigation techniques which they can implement into their fields effectively.

Thousands of farmers were also interested in the stall of EPC, a Mahindra Group company. There is a live display of Green House and Landscape Irrigation as well as display of Micro Irrigation products by EPC Industries. The uniqueness of landscape irrigation is that it is labour, energy and water saving, providing uniform irrigation within a short time. Polyhouses are ideal for those young and progressive farmers who do not prefer open cropping and want to go for off-season vegetables. This methodology will enable protection of crops as well as improve quantity and quality.

A lot of farmers thronged the stall of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd where there is a live demo of functional Solar Pump. The entire system operates through six solar panels and can function continuously during daytime. It also consists of a Solar Panel Conditioning Unit which converts DC output to 3 phase AC output to run the Pumper Motor which can be anywhere in the range of 0.5-30 HP.

Brij Gulani, on behalf of Kirloskar Brothers Limited shared that “This is the 6th time that we are participating in CII Agro Tech. Here, we have launched our new range of Solar Pumps and AC Systems. This time, Punjab is responding well in terms of product inquiries and interaction with farmers.

Sardar Surinder Singh, a farmer from Fazilka shared that “Apart from learning about the latest products, the experts guided us on our water problems, asymmetrical climate conditions and future solutions in this regard. We are much excited to also learn about the new-age irrigation technologies like drip irrigation techniques and spray irrigation techniques which we can implement into their fields effectively”.

SGI Enterprises is organizing a live display of Soilless Farming (Hydroponics) which is attracting a lot of farmers at CII Agro Tech. This is a layer farming which results in 1.5 times more productivity as compared to soil farming. The technology is labour, space and water saving. It needs only water wherein nutrients are already being mixed. 1-2 litres of water per day is adequate for 150 odd pots. This system is safe as it contributes only 0.5 per cent diseases.

PumpKART, the first e-commerce portal in India for water pumps has chosen CII Agro Tech 2014 as the platform to promote its online services and has also been a major attraction at the fair. PumpKART is a one-stop destination for all categories of pumps whether for agricultural, residential or commercial purposes.

A huge number of farmers also thronged Pentair Aquatic Systems. It is providing information about their fishery products, commercial aquaculture, laboratory animal housing, lake and pond management, and aquatic life support. It is offering complete solution ranging from layout designing to technological support, be it in feeding, maintaining or breeding.

Lindsay Corporation, USA is providing information about Central and Lateral Pivots, and Hosereels at the Agro Tech 2014 exhibition. Pivot Irrigation system works on a technology which helps to grow transplanted rice. This technology is labour saving, water saving, reduces heat and does not spoil the quality of soil. Hosereels are self-propelled, operating only with hydroelectric power. The machines are guaranteed for 10 years depending on weather.

Crompton Greaves launched Pressure Booster Pumps and Star Rating Pumps at Agro Tech 2014. The later is energy saving leading to less electricity consumption.
