NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Rohit Roy Chaudhary (5.5 points) beat Soumiljeet Singh (5 points) to emerged as Champion in Under 17 category at the First Hallmark Open Prize Money Chess Tournament 2015 conducted by Tricity Chess Acedemy at Hallmark Public School, Sector 15, Panchkula. In same category for girls, Srishti Antil (3 points) beat Priyanka Kanaujia (2 point) to clinch the title. The event was supervised and conducted by FIDE Arbiter Nitin. A total of 131 players were contesting the battle in six categories for Rs. 30,000 total prize money.
In Under 13 witnessed a nail biting contest in which Shivom Sood (5.5 points) of tied up with Manav Gupta (5.5 point) to finally emerged the champion in the category. Meanwhile in girls category Saumya Lamba with her 4 points beat Priyanka Maurya (3 points)
Arnav Kushwaha (6 points) in Under 10 category beat Nishit Garg (5.5 points) in a decider. However three other players namely Pratyaksh Goel, Shaunak Chaudhary and Rishabh Chordiya also shared 5.5 points. In girls category Fulzale Shrushti (4.5 points) tied with Vallari Narewadi (4.5 points) to finally emerge as Champion in her category.
Mr. CM Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaipur Division gave away the prizes to all the winners in the presence of Dr Amit Bhattacharjee, mentor and coach of Olympic medalist Abhinav Bindra, Nitin, Director, Tricity Chess Academy, Mr Jivitesh Garg, Director and Ms Kavita Wadhwa, Principal, Hallmark Public School, Sector 15, Panchkula.
