NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Rs. 8 crore 75 lacs 63 thousand has been spent under MGNREGA Scheme in district SAS Nagar and by the end of current financial year Rs. 3 crore 16 lacs 28 thousand will also be spent and employment opportunities has been provided by allotting job cards to 22313 persons in the district. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu while reviewing the road side cleaning & development works for strengthening of berms being carried out from Landran Chunni Road to village Majaat (near FatehGarh Sahib border) under MGNREGA Scheme.
During this Sh. Sidhu interacted with the labours thus employed and expressed his satisfaction after enquiring about the remuneration being paid to them under the MGNREGA Scheme. Sh. Sidhu said that besides SAS Nagar, the entire district will be developed as a role model. He said that each and every effort will be done to provide a complete makeover to the villages. As such, initially during the first month only cleaning activities will be carried out in the villages, for which help from village panchayats, youth clubs will be sought to generate awareness among people regarding cleanliness & hygiene.
Sh. Sidhu said that besides cleaning works, some development works including strengthening of berms will also be carried out. Sh. Sidhu said that more employment opportunities will be created under MGNREGA Scheme in the villages. Sh. Sidhu said that a project worth Rs. 40 Crore has been forwarded to centre Govt. regarding works to be carried out in the village sunder MGNREGA Scheme. He said that during the year 2015-16 employment opportunities to approximate 1 lac 70 thousand persons will be provided on daily wage basis. As such, employment to 1 lac persons stands provided so far.
During this, Sh. Sidhu said that the main entry point of the district at village Majaat near Fatehgarh Sahib Border, will be beautified and more trees will planted on road side. In this regard, he directed the officers concerned to prepare a plan for the same so that the same could be implemented soon. During this, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sh. Bhupinder Singh explained about the development works carried out under MGNREGA. During this, SDM Kharar Smt. Amaninder Kaur, Secretary Zila Parishad Sh. Ravinder singhj Sandhu, BDPO Kharar Sh. Malvinder Singh and village sarpanch from village Swara, Machlikalan, Majaat were present.
