NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Sahayta Charitable welfare Society has launched ‘Sahayta Shiksha Sahyog’ program on December 15, 2014 at 3.30 pm at Sahayta Sahyog Kendra, Opp. #1257, Sector 15 B, Chandigarh. It aims to facilitate the child cancer patients to cope with their absence from school. During their treatment, the children are unable to attend school and hence lag behind in their class work, home work and other curriculum related tasks. Many of these children travel from neighbouring states and even from Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar and are forced to stay in the ‘Sarai’ for three to four months. Our objective is to provide learning as well as recreation to these children in as many ways as possible. The young college volunteers who are regularly participating in the programme at our centre have supported this initiative.
Mr Vivek Atray, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula and author of ‘Dubeyji bounces back’ will be the Chief Guest and launch the program. Along with this, Vatsalya Sahyog Meet will also be held with the participation of PGI oncologists, Dr Amita Trehan and Dr Deepak. This meet will provide a platform for parents of child cancer patients to interact and share their thoughts with doctors and volunteers. Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society has been involved in the care of children afflicted with cancer since 1999 and provides financial, emotional, nutritional and recreational support to young patients undergoing treatment at PGI.
