Inter school tourney – Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy 2024 concludes: The Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy (BSMBT) 2024 being organized by Vivek High School, Mohali, concluded at the Indoor Basketball Court, GMADA Sports Complex, Sector 78, Mohali, on Wednesday.
Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy 2024 concludesRupesh Kumar Begara, District Sports Officer of Mohali, who was the chief guest at the tournament’s grand finale, congratulated all the winners for their outstanding performances.
Vivek High School, Mohali lifted the U17 Boys trophy by defeating Saupin’s School, Chandigarh 44-38. Aditya with 25 points was the highest scorer for the winning team and Apaar with 15 for the losing team. The 2nd runners-up were Learning Paths School, Mohali. Meanwhile, KV High Ground School, Chandigarh lifted the U14 Boys Trophy by defeating YPS, Mohali 32-27. Ankush with 16 points was the highest scorer for the winning team while the highest scorer for the losing team was Gurmat with 10 points. Vivek High School, Mohali were 2nd runners-up.
In the U12 boys age group, Police Public School, Chandigarh lifted the trophy by beating Vivek High School, Mohali 34-23. The leading scorer for the winning team with 12 points was Vansh. The 2nd runners up were YPS, Mohali.
In Girls U17, Vivek High School, Chandigarh beat YPS, Mohali to lift the trophy 45-40. Kashvi with 22 points scored highest for the winning team and Ananya was highest scorer for the losing side. 2nd runners-up were Learning Paths School, Mohali.
Sacred Heart, Chandigarh lifted the U14 Girls Trophy by defeating Vivek High School, Mohali 28-18. Jiya with 12 was the highest scorer for the winning team and Trasha with 6 points the highest scorer for the losing team. The 2nd runners-up were YPS, Mohali.
In U12 Girls, Sacred Heart, Chandigarh again registered a win by defeating Learning Paths School, Mohali 22-12 thereby lifting the trophy. Naisha with 12 points was the highest scorer for the winning side and Sanvi with 6 points for the losing team.  The 2nd runners-up were Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali.
A prize distribution event honoring the winning teams was held following the finals of the BSMBT. Principal of the host school Vivek High School, Mohali Dr. Amar Jyoti Chawla and Ms. Renu Puri, Principal, Vivek High School, Chandigarh presented trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams in several categories for both boys and girls. Apart from trophies, medals and certificates a total prize money of Rs. 2,70,000 was distributed among the winners across all age categories in both boys and girls.
The following players were adjudged man of the match after today’s finals. In Boys U17, Saupin School’s Apaar was named man of the match. In U14 Boys, YPS Mohali’s Gurmat Singh was Man of the Match and in U12 Vivek High School, Mohali’s Jai Partap was adjudged Man of the Match.
Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy 2024 concludesIn Girls U17, YPS Mohali’s Nimar clinched the coveted title. In U14 girls Sacred Heart’s Samaya was adjudged man of the match. In U12 Girls, Learning Path School, Mohali’s, Sanvi Narang, was named man of the match.
In U17 boys Vivek High School, Mohali’s Aditya Nagpal clinched the title of player of the tournament. In the U14 age group KVS High Ground’s Ankush won the title. In Boys U12 Police Public School’s Gurjot Singh was adjudged Player of Tournament.
In U17 Girls Kashvi of Vivek High School, Chandigarh won the player of tournament title. In U14 girls Sacred Heart’s Jiya won the coveted title and Naisha from Sacred Heart School won the player of the tournament title in U12.
 Dr. Amar Jyoti Chawla, Principal of Vivek High School, Mohali, said that this tournament is a unique platform for aspiring basketball players who wish to pursue this sport as a career. She added, “More than 70 teams from top schools across the region participated in this inter-school basketball tournament.”
