NewZNew (Chandigarh) : As many as 300 students took part in a ‘Walkathon’, to spread the message of conservation of Oil and Gas. The participants were flagged off from Tel Bhawan, Sector 19, by State Level Coordinator, U.T. Chandigarh of Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF-15) & Senior Regional Manager of HPCL, Mr. Krishan K. Handa.
Says Mr. Krishan K. Handa, “Ever since price of Petroleum & Natural Gas started shooting up the Government has been seized of the problem and it is taking various measures to decrease consumption of these products. The mass awareness programme is meant to sensitise people to save fossil fuels which were fast depleting. The OGCF too seeks to meet this objective and the Walkathon was a step in the direction of making people aware of the intense need to conserve oil & gas.”
In its drive to educate people in conservation of petroleum and gas, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas through Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil PSU companies has been organizing OGCF since 1991 throughout the country. Under the initiative taken by State Level Coordinator, U.T. Chandigarh, all the members of Oil Industry, Officials of Chandigarh Administration & common people are encouraged to actively participate in this noble cause of safeguarding both environment and fuel.
