Sector-15 residents gear up for monsoon

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Rains bring relief from the scorching heat but also there is a risk of the rain water entering our houses. To prepare for the same, the repair work has been initiated in Sector-15. On Sunday, Chief Engineer Mukesh Anand and XEN Public Health Dept Suresh Saini inaugurated the repair work in the presence of MC councilor Saurabh Joshi and local residents.

Since years the government houses of Sector-15 D had to face the rain water entering in and with this repair work, around 400-500 houses will be relieved. Joshi told, “Residents had built 2 ft high wall on their main entrance to stop the rain water from entering in. From last three decades people are facing such problems. After getting the drain pipes cleaned, we have now initiated repairing and replacing the broken drain pipes from today.”

Chief Engineer Mukesh Anand told, “For a fixed solution there will be a 60 ft long sewerage pipe installed in this area soon. The nursing quarters, houses near the petrol pump, cheap houses, LIC quarters will also get new drainage pipes. In this repair work, nearly 150 drainages will be given new shape at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lacs.

On this occasion BJP Zila head B.C. Puri, Mandal head Rajesh Mahajan, Ward Committee member Prof. S.C. Gupta, Prof. Sunil Sharma, Kailash Sahni, Deepa Dubey, Gurpreet Singh, Amarjit Singh, Sandeep and Sunil praised the Ward councilor for his efforts.
