NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Hearing aids & motorised tricycles on subsidised rates will be provided to the needy persons by State Govt. in district SAS Nagar, under various social welfare schemes being run in cooperation with Govt. of India. Stating this Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the needy person could contact District Social Security Officer & to the concerned BDPOs & CDPOs for the same.
Sh. Sidhu said that understanding the need of the hour, motorised tricycle has been developed to facilitate the handicapped persons. This motorised tricycle costs to Rs. 35 thousand on which Govt. will give a subsidy of Rs. 25 thousand. As such, the person has to pay only Rs. 10 thousand for the same. He said that these tricycles will be provided to the needy persons of 16 years and above with 80% physical disability and the the monthly income of applicants parents should not be more than Rs. 15 thousand.
Sh. Sidhu further said that hearing aids will be provided to deaf persons. The hearing aid including Koklear Implant costs to Rs. 6 lacs. This total expenditure is done by state govt. in cooperation with Govt. of India. He said that in Punjab Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot, PGI Chandigarh & Govt. Medical Hospital Sector 32 Chandigarh has been authorised for implanting hearing aids. He said that applicant for hearing aid must be above 5 years age and monthly income of applicant’s parents should not be more than 15 thousand. In case the monthly income of applicant’s parents is between 15 thousand to 20 thousand than a subsidy of Rs. 3 lacs will be provided by Govt. & the rest amount of Rs. 3 lacs is to be spent by the parents of applicant.
Deputy Commissioner said that eligible applicants for obtaining hearing aids must have medical certificate for hearing disability.
