NewZNew (Chandigarh – Kulbir Singh Kalsi) : Today, volunteers of Yuvsatta-an NGO along with students of St. Stephen’s School, Gurukul Global School, KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School & DAV Sr. Sec. School (Lahore), Sector 8C handed over 7,500 ‘THANK U’ cards to Maj. Gen. AK Singh, at HQ Western Command, Chandimandir.
Giving information about the initiative Pramod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta explained that ‘Let’s Say Thanks’- one of their programme saluting the soldiers of Indian Army began five years ago as a public way to say “thank you” to the brave soldiers serving our country, especially on border areas. And since then, more than 50,000 ‘Thank U greeting cards’ were sent through HQ Western Command with active and vibrant support of Schools of tricity i.e. from Chandigarh, Panchkula and SAS Nagar (Mohali), sharing students appreciation with our troops through cards featuring children’s artwork, words & line in praise and respect of gallant soldiers..
Appreciating the initiative and motivating the students Maj. Gen. AK Singh said that they should never ever in life run after money, careers & worldly pleasures rather their sole aim should be to gather more and more knowledge & be good learner’s in life in order to realize their true potential in any field and be proud son and daughters of their parents and able citizens to serve the motherland.
Manjot Singh a class VII student of KB DAV-7 was so thrilled after the meeting Army officers that he is already dreaming to join Indian Army one day. For another participant Arjun Mittal of St. Stephen’s School coming to HQ Western Command and having tea with top Generals there was such a memorable experience that’s it’s like a dream come true. Feeling overwhelmed by the service and sacrifice of Army soldiers Sakhshi of Gurukul Global School shared that they feel blessed to be part of this ‘Thank U’ campaign to meet real hero’s because of whom they can daily sleep and play in peace. Akash of DAV Sr. Sec. School (Lahore) comparing himself with students in Schools of Pakistan said that if they can fearlessly go to School and live a happy life in India, its only because Indian Army is there to protect us and promote our motherland.
Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Col. Rav Roop Singh of HQ Western Command, Chandimandir & Ramesh Sharma, General Secretary of Yuvsatta.
