The JW Marriott “Dabbawala” food fest will offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes in Dabbas representing cuisines from different parts of India. Some of the cuisines on offer will be Marathi Dabba, Andhra Dabba, Kashmiri Dabba, Bengali Dabba etc. A highlight of this food fest would be the ‘Marriott Dabba’ serving choicest dishes from the kitchen of ‘Saffron’.
The Dabbawala’s cater to a culturally diverse mix of Mumbai’s populace through dishes of their choice which originate from different parts of India. According to Executive Chef Naveen Handa, ”The people of Chandigarh have a keen sense of taste and always appreciate good food. The thought behind organizing the ‘Dabbawala’ food fest is to bring together the different tastes indigenous to households from different parts of India and serve them to the wonderful populace of Chandigarh.”
At the fest, there Dabbas would offer a wide variety of dishes like Chapa Vepudu and Masala Vada (Andhra), Beetroot Cutlet and Kosha Mangsho (Bengali), Tabak Maaz and Murgh Kanti (Kashmiri),
Kothmir Vadi and Kanda Kekda Bhaji (Maharashtrian) and last but not the least Tandoori Murgh and Aam Papad Bharwan Paneer Tikka from Marriott Dabba. A vegetarian Dabba will cost you INR 1200 + taxes while a non-vegetarian will be available for INR 1450 + taxes.
To enhance the overall experience of enjoying a “Dabba” which is essentially a home-cooked meal consumed by office goers in Mumbai, the restaurant, “Saffron”, would be decorated with Carts carrying Dabbas. Frames would be placed in restaurant with concept of Dabbawala & different Dabba styles with lighting suited to support the theme.
