NewZNew (Chandigarh) : They were incredible and faster than calculators. Unbelievable it may sound but it is true. Children from various regions of Punjab showcased their calculation ability through abacus, an ancient tool of calculation, on Sunday at ‘SIP PUNJAB PRODIGY 2015’ organized by SIP Academy India Pvt Ltd (The Indian wing of SIP Academy, SDN BHD, Malaysia) at CDCL (Ch. Devi Lal Centre for Learning), Sec. 28, Chandigarh.
Altogether 550 contestants (age group between 5 to 12 years) from SIP Learning Centers of Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Patiala, Khanna, Sirhind, Kharar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Jandiala & Amritsar arrived in the city to compete in the Abacus, Brain Gym and Mental Arithmetic skills at CDCL (Ch. Devi Lal Centre for Learning), Sec. 28, Chandigarh. Two rounds of the competition were held in which students were tested on their concentration, confidence, intelligence, speed and accuracy.

The ‘SIP Prodigy’ competition has earlier also entered the Limca Book of Records four times. SIP Academy India is the only Indian Abacus Company to conduct three ‘International Abacus and Mental Arithmetic’ competitions in India and abroad.
