newznew (Chandigarh) : Chandigarh lad Vipul Thakur, son of Vijay Thakur, has done the city proud by getting commissioned into Indian Navy. He was commissioned into the Navy at the Passing Out Parade on 27th May 2017 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. A resident of Brooke Bond Society, Sector 49, Chandigarh, Vipul has made the city proud with his achievement.
A student of Ryan International School, Chandigarh, from where he completed his Class XII studies, Vipul got his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Chitkara University, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, in 2015. He also worked with Tech Mahindra for a year before getting selected for his training with the Navy.
Speaking about having fulfilled his cherished dream to join the Indian Armed forces, Vipul says, “My approach was simply to always focus on my goal which helped me complete the tasks assigned to me. For the inspiration behind my dream I would say it was seeing my Nana ji or maternal grandfather in Army uniform. I always dreamt of one day wearing the uniform and serve my country like him.”
Speaking about his training, he said, “The training was definitely thrilling as well as challenging as it brought out the best in me. The course prepared us to handle any adverse situation coming our way. It is the sheer love for the country which keeps any soldier going. I strongly feel that there is no greater way to give back to our great Country than serving in the armed forces. Indeed the unflinching love and support from my parents kept me in high spirits and gave me the strength to complete my training.”
