Thai trade show draws crowds in droves
Herbal cosmetics, Jewellery shining gel, floating candles and fruits a big hit on day 2
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The second day of the CII – DITP Thailand Trade Show organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and DITP, Thailand at Himachal Bhawan in Chandigarh drew even larger crowds, especially women on 2nd day as compared to the first day as word of mouth spread about the show. While, several women from the tricity thronged the fair in huge numbers since morning, the evenings were absolutely jam-packed, making the show a great success. The interesting part about the show is that 90% of the exhibitors from Thailand are also women.
Be it herbal cosmetics, kitchenware, decorative items, jewellery or fashion accessories, the fair offers a vast variety of products at affordable prices to please the women shopaholics.
Queues had formed up at the fruit stalls with visitors eager to get a taste of Thai guavas, Dragon fruit, Rambutan and lychees (which are somewhat different in shape and taste from the Indian ones). Stalls with eatables were a big draw, like the fruit stalls and stalls with nuts and candies.
A wide variety of nuts – peanuts, cashew, peas and dried guava – is proving to be quite popular, while a stall inside the second hall sold its candies like hot cakes at Rs 40 per packet consisting 25 pieces. In the evenings, the food stalls came alive. The Thai food court is selling chicken with Thai herbs, chicken red curry, and chicken with coconut milk which is being loved immensely by locals.
It’s not just the food items alone that were a hit. Ladies’ handbags, coffee mugs, floating candles, wood roses, artificial flowers, fancy doormats, incense sticks, key chains and rubber flip-flops were all in big demand. One could see almost all stall owners carry out brisk sales of most items they had stocked.
Herbal cosmetics, compress and inhalers a real hit
A rare variety of herbal cosmetics including herbal face creams, made of ‘rasyan saled’ , leg therapy creams with green tea and aloe vera , herbal powder scrub, acne green tea soaps, moisturisers etc brought by Buddy International were a tremendous hit. Their herbal inhaler to fight cold and cough without any side effects also attracted a lot of visitors as well.
The herbal compress massager Ball for face and neck brought by O-Sod Herbal, which helps relax and brighten up the skin after heating up, received a very good response as well.
Aromatic candles which are acid free and room fresheners in shapes of Teddy bears, costing Rs 50 – Rs 120 were another highlight of the show.

A Thai Tourism stall too sold some pamphlets of popular Thai tourist spots like Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. The Thai massage stall is offering free demonstration from 10-11 am, 1-2 pm and 4-5 pm. Thai traditional dance performances are organised daily at 2.30, 4.30 and 6.30 pm.
The fair which on Wednesday and is on till Sunday at Himachal Bhawan, sector 28, Chandigarh from 10 am – 8 pm.
