A high level delegation led by Mr Sachit Jain, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region called on the newly elected Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr Jai Ram Thakur & Hon’ble Industry Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr Bikram Singh at the secretariat here today.
During the meeting Mr Jain said that Himachal Pradesh is a peace loving state therefore law and order is not an issue which is a pre-requisite to attract the industry. He emphasized the need for collaboration to ensure the inclusive development and suggested to create a joint task force of Industry and Government to work on development agenda.
He assured CII’s unstinted support to the Government of Himachal Pradesh using its wide network of offices all across the country and overseas to attract the investments in the State.
The Chief Minister assured the CII delegation that every possible help will be provided to the industry to grow and flourish in the State. He shared that State Government is committed for equitable development of the state and in this regard is working towards promoting inner parts of the state for investments.
Chief Minister also assured the industry to intervene and discuss the land acquisition issues related to four laning of Pinjore Nalagarh National Highway and Baddi Chandigarh Rail link. Acknowledging the role of industry in socio-economic development of the State, Hon’ble Chief Minister took a note of the pain points of the industry particularly related to infrastructure, taxation, cartelization by truck operations, etc. and assured that necessary actions will be taken to get these resolved on priority.
Mr Bikram Singh, Hon’ble Industry Minister urged the industry to play a larger role on social developmental initiatives particularly in job creation and also emphasized on the need of sustainable growth without hampering the environment.
Mr Rajesh Saboo, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council said that there is a need to harness the competitive advantages of the state with robust policy and regulatory framework which will enable the State to emerge as a preferred investment destination. He also suggested that the State Government should closely work with the Central Government to bring out the Hill State Policy at the earliest to provide the much needed support to the industry in Himachal Pradesh. He also assured CII’s support to the Government in improving the Ease of Doing Business and formulating the industry friendly policies.
Mr Babu Khan, Regional Director, CII Northern Region stated that CII is a knowledge repository and can help State Government with research and sectoral reports aimed at attracting investments and enhancing ease of doing business.
Also present in the delegation were Mr IMJS Sidhu, Vice Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council and senior members of CII HP Capt Alok Sharma, Mr Rajender Guleria, Mr Sanjay Khurana, Mr Harish Aggarwal, etc.
