Quotes of the Celebrities

Sonam Kapoor who got emotional after watching the film and couldn’t hold back her tears says, “I was really moved by Chauthi KootIt is an exquisite film and very very special. I hope a lot of people get to see the film.  I loved the film. its very hard to choose what I liked the most about the film as it is beautifully painted, its like seeing a canvas and not understanding what it is that moved you. It is about extreme emotions, it is about silence, it is about pain, it is about love, it is about loyalty, it is about angst.”

Nandita Das – “Very pure, very moving, very real, seldom do they make such films. Completely a different feeling.”

Rahul Bose – “It is a very difficult question, to understand how you liked the film. It is very ruminative, measured, un-interfering attitude towards film making. I have enormous respect towards people who do as they believe. He is not looking over his shoulder at anybody. He is making the film as he believes. And I find that compelling. You might not like a film, but when you find it compelling, that’s when you know that the person has done it truly. It is a very true film. I do not want to extract a part for entertainment and name it my favourite. I like the whole film – that moment, that world, that texture. It is a beautiful narrative, very soulful film. A lot of soul in the film. What I like the most about this movie is how it has an uncompromising attitude towards the cinematic.”

Vicky Kaushal – “I am a Punjabi guy and my family belongs to small village like it is shown in the film, in Punjab. I have heard a lot of stories from my mother, father about the tensed atmosphere back in 1984. I thought, whatever I had heard, I saw the visuals today. Not in terms of violence, just the atmosphere, the tensed atmosphere. And I think it is very rare that you see a director showcasing/expressing it in a pure form. That is the best part about it.The cinematography was absolutely fantastic.”

Anand Gandhi tweeted “Experience fear, uncertainty and unnerving suspense in this masterfully crafted piece of cinema: Chauthi Koot.” In another tweet he said, “The best film of the year is here! Chauthi Koot releases nationwide on the 5th of August. Do not miss it! Films like this are rare to come.”

Chauthi Koot is the first Punjabi film to have its world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2015 where it was screened in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section and got a standing ovation.
