JEE Advanced 2017 Seat Allotment begins today: Check expected cut off for individual IITs

JEE Advanced 2017 Seat Allotment will commence today at the official website. It is important that the applicants are aware about the expected cut off for individual IITs.  For  IITs cutoff for B. Tech Computer Science and Engineering will be decided on the basis of total number of seats available and the choices which have been filled by the students during counselling. For IIT Bombay the closing rank was 60 for the open category,while for IIT Delhi the closing rank was 115. The statistics of last year reveal that the closing rank for IIT Madras was 173 while for IIT Kanpur, the closing rank was 230. For the prestigious IIT Kanpur, the closing rank was 230. The closinng rank for open category at Kharagpur stood at 286. The closing ranking at Roorkee stood at 482.

It is expected that the top rankers will take up IIT Kharagpur, Kanpur, Delhi, Bombay and Chennai.  It has to be noted that a certain eligibility criteria is followed, the candidate must be within the category‐wise top 20‐percentile of successful candidates in the respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination. For selection it is must to  have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. It is expected that there would not be much changes in the expected cut-off for individual IITs.

For the selection process at IITs, the aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates must be at least 65%. The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut‐off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion: (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) a language (if the candidate has taken more  than  one  language,  then  the  language  with  the  higher  marks  will   be considered), and any subject other than the above four the subject with the higher marks will be considered. CBSE Cut-offs will be used for other boards (listed by JEE Apex Board) if those boards’ cutoffs are not available. JEE has published the category wise top 20‐Percentile cut-off marks for class XII examination (for Admissions to IITs only). The students are advised to visit the website www.josaa.nic.in and www.csab.nic.in regularly for schedule of counselling and admission process in NITs/IIITs & other CFTIs.

For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
