NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organized an interaction with India-born US author Kamla K. Kapur on her book, “The Singing Guru” published by Jaico.

Dr. B.N. Goswamy, world-renowned art critic and historian, along with famous theatre director Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry formally released the book.

Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of CLS Sumita Misra said that many of us have heard the legends of Guru Nanak and his travels beyond India at a time when there was hardly any means of travels, and how he delivered the divine messages of oneness and unity that need to be revisited by modern audience.

Kamla K. Kapur weaves facts, legends, folklores, myths, and over forty of Guru Nanak’s poems preserved in the Sikh holy book, the Granth Saheb, to form a captivating depiction of his life.

Kamla K. Kapur  is a poet, author, and playwright of repute.  She has studied and taught creative writing at Grossmont College in San Diego, California where she lives with her American husband who is an environment scientist, author, documentary maker, painter Payson R. Stevens.  They divide their time between the Kullu valley in Himalayas and her parent’s home in Chandigarh, and Southern California in USA.
