Pakistan RehmanNewZNew (New Delhi) : Ujjwal Nikam, the special public prosecutor in Mumbai terror attacks case, has expressed deep shock on a Pakistan court’s decision to grant bail to 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

Speaking to a news channel, Nikam said, “It is very shocking news.” Nikeam added that Lakhvi had was being tried in the case since 2008. “When the court says no evidence (against Lakhvi), it means that our case has not be properly represented in the court,” he added.

Nikam said India had presented evidence implicating Lakhvi to the Pakistan government and was assured by the Islamabad that they will act upon it to bring the guilty to justice.

“If Pakistan wants to fight terrorism, they should fight terrorist who are inside the state,” he said, while demanding that bail be cancelled.

Lakhvi, who was the operational head of the banned Laskhar-e-Toiba, was one of the key planners of the Mumbai attack that killed 166 people.

His release from jail comes a day after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif pledged to announce a “national plan” to tackle terrorism within a week, saying “this entire region” should be cleaned of terrorism.
