NewZNew (Chandigarh) : A very pertinent drawing competition, themed on conservation of sources of energy, was organised by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) for young students of The British School, Chandigarh in the School’s campus. As many as 100 students of the school displayed their creative skills by participating in the event. According to Mrs. Mona Sethi, Principal, The British School, Chandigarh, “The students made some very nice and insightful drawings depicting the need to save fuel. Their slogans too stood out. The aim of the exercise was to create awareness among the citizens who will hold reins of the country in future i.e. students.”
It is noteworthy that to spread the message of Oil Conservation ‘Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF)’ is being held till 31st Jan 2015 by Ministry of Oil & Natural Gas & Oil Companies.
Says Mr. Krishan Kumar Handa, Senior Regional Manager of HPCL & State Level Coordinator of OGCF, UT, Chandigarh, “In its drive to educate people in conservation of petroleum, Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnights (OGCF) are being held since 1991 throughout the country. Today a programme was organised under the same for students of The British School, Chandigarh.”
An LPG Conservation Clinic was also conducted by HPCL for Teachers and staff of The British School, Chandigarh. In this, safe practices for use of LPG equipment and various techniques for saving LPG were explained.
