Take ‘hisab’ from both the Congress and AAP when they come seeking your votes – Harsimrat K Badal: Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal urged the people to take the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to task by asking them why they had not fulfilled their promises when leaders of both parties came to them to seek their votes in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
The Bathinda MP, who addressed a number of village level meetings in Lambi assembly segment today, said “the Congress candidate owed an explanation to the people as to why his party had reneged on its promise to waive off loans, provide Rs 2,500 per month unemployment allowance and ensure ‘ghar ghar naukari’. She said similarly it was incumbent on the AAP to explain why it had stopped all social welfare benefits and refused to release the Rs 1,000 per month allowance promised to all women in the State.
Asking the people to take “hisab” from both parties, Mrs Badal said “don’t let AAP seek your votes until and unless its government deposits Rs 26,000 in the accounts of all women as per its promise to give them an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month”. She also asked the women to ask AAP representatives why their party government was presiding over the spread of the drug menace in the State. “Drugs are now available on home delivery in the State because AAP legislators are taking monthlies from the drug mafia”, Mrs Harsimrat Badal asserted.
The SAD leader also asked AAP to explain why it had curtailed all social welfare benefits initiated by former chief minister S Parkash Singh Badal. She said while the atta – dal scheme had witnessed a reduction of 15 kg wheat from 30 kg wheat given by the SAD government during the Congress government, now only 5 kg flour was being given to the poor by the AAP government.
She said similarly the old age pension scheme had been curtailed even as Shagun benefits had been stopped completely. “Girl students are not getting cycles like they used to get during SAD tenure, even as the SC scholarship scheme has been stopped”.
Mrs Badal said even as the AAP government had nothing to show by way of development with no infrastructure works being taken up in the State, it had taken an unprecedented Rs 1 lakh crore loan during the last two years. “Now the situation has become such that the government is borrowing money to give salaries”.
She said all this was happening because chief minister Bhagwant Mann had used State funds to finance the election campaign of Arvind Kejriwal in other States besides spending more than Rs 1,000 crores in advertisements and publicity stunts.
The Bathinda MP also spoke on how S Parkash Singh Badal had developed Lambi constituency and made it the most modern constituency in Punjab and the country. “There is no facility which this constituency does not have. Be it schools, colleges, hospitals, veterinary facilities and stadiums and sporting facilities. All this came about due to the special effort taken by Sardar Badal. The Badal family is committed to enriching this legacy”, she added.
