NewZNew (Chandigarh) : When in Punjab, do it the Punjabi way. Punjab get ready for a theatrical treat as India’s esteemed theatre group The Films and Theatre Society is organizing a tour of its popular Punjabi play Wo Lahore from 11th March to 13th March. The tour features six shows of Wo Lahore in three cities Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Patiala – two in each city.
Written and directed by Atul Satya Koushik, Wo Lahore, a musical drama, is set in the middle of twentieth century’s India which has been the most-written, most-performed and most-talked-about part of Indian history. This is a story of an ordinary woman, a mother of three sons, who tries to keep her family intact amid everything that is happening around.
“With Wo Lahore, we are trying to spread the message of harmony and brotherhood among the people. And we are thankful to Baderwal Group who is supporting us to organize such a huge tour,” says Rahul Bhuchar, the executive director of The Films and Theatre Society.
This play shows the internal conflicts and turmoil prevailing in an ordinary Indian family with the struggle for freedom, social beliefs of those times and the then partition in the backdrop. Beleaguered in different convictions, values and aspirations of her sons and husband, Jamuna is a representative of quintessential Indian women.
The play has been successfully staged around 100 shows in more than 12 cities including Mumbai, Chandigarh, Shimla, Jaipur, Kanpur and Lucknow.
