CGC Jhanjeri Organizes Health Talk on Corona Virus in Collaboration with Fortis Hospital: CGC Jhanjeri in collaboration with Fortis Hospital to clear out the mist and hype surrounding the health emergency caused by Corona virus an informative and interactive workshop on Corona Virus” was organized.
Dr. Mohit Kaushal (MBBS, DTCD, DNB, Respiratory Medicine) was the keynote speaker on the occasion. Dr. Mohit started by sharing the family history of the corona virus or COVID-19. Later elaborating, the virus spreads with direct human-to-human contact, droplets, fomites, and fecal contamination.
The incubation period of the virus is nearly 14 days and in maximum cases the virus has infected within 5 days. The first signs of the disease include cough, fever and shortness of breath, but every person who is coughing does not have corona virus. The disease is detected through lab tests of throat & nasal swabs, sputum test or blood samples. He further informed that virus has spread in nearly 115 countries with the majority of the cases (nearly 70%) are in China. The majority of people who succumb to death are low on immunity having other ailments as well such as diabetes or illness, and most of them are above 60 years of age.
Dr. Mohit further suggested to take precaution and avoid travelling as much as possible, avoid close contact and be at least 2 meters away . He further suggested one should avoid crowds as much as possible. Other precautionary measures includes avoid touching eyes, nose, or throat, wash our hands thoroughly and avoid spitting. Some of the myths that were cleared by him included that no pets can cause this disease, there is no vaccination for this disease as of now. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said all the students of CGC Jhanjeri should maintain good eating habits, drink plenty of water and stay away from public gathering .
