Residents of the ‘home for helpless’ get thoroughly entertained with activities galore
NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : The nurses of Fortis Hospital Mohali today took time out to celebrate ‘Nurses Week’ with a difference. They visited the premises of Prabh Aasra Trust, ‘a home for helpless’ at Kurali, and taught basic yoga, meditation and laughter therapy to the residents. They also distributed goodies to the children at the Home, and organized fun activities, including a poster-making competition. International Nurses’ Day is celebrated each year on May 12. This year’s theme is ‘Nurses: A Force for Change – Improving Health Systems’ Resilience’.
Talking about their visit to Prabh Aasra Trust, Capt Neelam Deshwal, Regional Chief Nursing Officer, Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “Nursing is one of the noblest profession in the world. It’s a profession that teaches to give selflessly, untiringly, and unconditionally, and most of all, caringly. We have come to Prabh Aasra Trust with the same zeal and enthusiasm. Our Nurses’ Week celebrations would have been incomplete without this visit.”
Apart from a health talk on basic hygiene and wellness, the nursing team also taught yoga and meditation to the residents. The session on laughter therapy got everyone excited as they practiced it with full gusto. Laughter reverberated from every corner of the Trust premises, as children and elderly alike led by Fortis nurses laughed out loud, getting thoroughly entertained in the process.
As part of the Nurses’ Week, Fortis also organized a session on ‘Stress Management’ in the Mohali hospital’s IPD lobby, a workshop on ‘Personal Protective Equipment’ for the nurses, and a nurses’ sports meet. A mega cultural event with dance performances and skits is scheduled to be held at the hospital on Thursday.
