President Pranab Mukherjee to inaugurate CII Agro Tech 2016 on November 20

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : CII Agro Tech 2016, India’s Premier Biennial four-day Agro Technology and Business Fair, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is being held from 19 November to the 22 November, 2016, at Parade Ground in Sector 17, Chandigarh. The theme for this year is ‘Building Global Competitiveness’.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble President of India will inaugurate the mega international agricultural fair on November 20, 2016, at the Parade Ground, Chandigarh. H E Mr Reuven Rivlin, President of Israel will join as the guest of honour on the occasion.
In a statement issued here today, Mrs Rumjhum Chatterjee, Chairperson, CII Agro Tech 2016  said, “Israel is the Partner country for the 12th edition of CII Agro Tech while Focus Countries are Canada & Germany. In addition CII Agro Tech will also feature strong participation from Europe and Asia, showcasing the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment in the agriculture sector.”
The CII Agro-Tech 2016 exhibition area will be spread over an area of 16,000 square metres of with more than 130 exhibitors.
The four-day fair will also have 14 concurrent shows on Good Earth Expo on Agri Inputs & Innovative Farming Techniques, Food Expo-Expo on Processed & Packaged Foods, Food Tech-Expo on improving Food Value & Cold Chain, Farm Services- Expo on Enabling Credit & Technology in Agri Business, Livestock-Expo on Livestock Management, Implementex-Expo on Agri & Farm Implements, Farm Tech-Expo on Farm Machinery & Equipment, Water & Irrigation Management-Expo  on sustainable management of water in agriculture besides the International Pavilion, an Advanced Technology Pavilion, and the States of India pavilion.
India-Israel Roundtable on Precision Agriculture will see industry leaders from both countries taking part. Delegates from Tel Aviv University & Volcani Centre Israel are also taking part and will apprise their Indian counterparts on how to leverage Israel technology & expertise at the CII Agro tech 2016.
A major highlight of the Fair will be CII Agri Hackathon (CII AgHack 2016) in which 60 participants, including students, budding entrepreneurs, will compete to produce technology solutions for Indian agriculture.
Kisan Goshtees will be an important part of the fair, exclusive designed to educate farmers on various agri-related topics and acquainting them with business opportunities available. Topics such as Direct Marketing of Agri Produce, Use of Solar & Bio Energy in Rural Economy, Commercial Dairy Farming: The Way Ahead, Profitable Fish Farming in North India, Cultivation of Medicinal Plants, Sustainable Dairy Farming Through Indigenous Breeds will be discussed at the Kisan Goshthees.
As a part of CII Agro-Tech 2016, CII is organizing several technical conferences on topics of interest such as food processing, digital pathways in agriculture, India-Canada partnership in agriculture,  food safety and sustainable agriculture.
Punjab is the host state while Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are partner states for CII Agro Tech 2016.
CII Agro Tech 2016 has drawn in more than 130 exhibiting companies, looking to gain greater visibility for agricultural technology products and equipment. Some of the products to be exhibited at the fair will be biotechnology tools, agro chemicals, tissue culture products, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural nutrients. Bio-processing tools, manures, farm water management systems, irrigation facilities, grains and crops will also be exhibited here. Storage facilities, dry land farming techniques, poly houses and agricultural finance services will be showcased during the event as well.
