Addressing the installation ceremony of Mr. Amarjeet Singh Jaggi as the chairman PSIDC (Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation), Mr. Badal said that Hoshiarpur has great potential for plywood industry as the area has geographical location best suited for plantation of trees like poplar and eucalyptus tree. Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP Government has given top priority to infrastructure development to attract investors besides creating investor friendly environment by adopting investors’ friendly industrial policy and setting up Punjab Bureau of Investment
Promotion. He said that the Reserve Bank of India has declared Punjab as the third most preferred investment after recognizing its infrastructure. Mr. Badal said that Punjab would witness an industrial investment of Rs 70000 Cr. In the next two years. He described Mr. Jaggi as an honest and dedicated person and expressed hope that under his
chairmanship PSIDC would achieve greater goals for industrial development of the state.
Earlier, Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal Minister for Industries welcoming the Punjab government’s decision to install Mr. Amarjeet Singh Jaggi as Chairman of PSIDC. He said that PDIDC has facilitated the establishment of 322 industrial units in the state besides playing important role in the establishment of various large scale industries in the state. He said that these 322 industrial units has provided employment opportunities to 75000 people in the state. He said that land and electricity were two main needs of industry and state government has fulfilled both needs through smooth land equisition policy and by making Punjab first power surplus state in the country.
